How to attend a game to scout a goalie WITH connection

 

Attending games can be a crucial part of getting a goalie into our program. It is important to make face to face connections with parents.

  1. Look at Master Tier sheet and check to see what tiers need goalies
    1. Go to a game if they have 2 goalies or less
  2. Look up team schedule online 
    1. Google search teams association and go to the team’s tab
      1. Ex. Stillwater Youth Hockey Association
      2. Click on teams and then go to the team that you need
  3. Check personal schedule and compare to games to make sure you can attend the game without any conflicts
  4. Select a game to go to
  5. Email goalies parents and let them know you will be at the game and ask to meet with them 2-3 days before the game

 

How to attend a game to scout a goalie WITHOUT connection

 

  1. Check team schedule and compare with personal schedule
  2. Look at the roster and check for player connections through player staff
    1. Look to see if anyone has connections with the goalie through a group text, email.
  3. Attend game
    1. Look for parents on the team standing by themselves or ones that look at you/your jacket and acknowledge who you are.
    2. Ask parents who the “goalie parents are” because it is usually easy for them to point out.
  4. Connect with them and hand out business cards and get contact information from them such as email, phone number.
