How to on board a new staff member PT and Full time

PT/FULL STAFF ONBOARDING

  • Full Time Staff
  • PT Staff Need
  • Make sure each PT employee knows what they need to bring for each session (Gear).
  • Each PT needs a login and needs to be added to the feedback drop down menu

      • Learn how to take attendance and add feedback

  • MEGA Gear needs to be bought or given to the employees
  • T-shirts
  • Shorts
  • Hockey socks
  • Jerseys
  • Make sure they have google Sheets so they can get the schedule

  • Overall expectations

    • Must be wearing MEGA Gear while on the clock.
    • Must be on time for anything you are scheduled from
      • Being on time means being there and prepared for the sessions (15-30 minutes) if you are just starting you day
      • During ice cuts be sure to look at the time we need to be out there
        • For example as the Zamboni is coming off you should be on the ice getting the nets ready
    • Keep us updated on when you will be done working (heading back to school/playing) or days off you have planned.
      • Telling us the day before is not acceptable
      • Communicate that your Director at the beginning of your employment
    • Be mindful of how you act on SOCIAL MEDIA. If you are 21 and want to have fun and post stories of you partying that is fine. But don’t accept Members to be your friend on Instagram/Snapchat. Keep your account blocked.

  • On-ice Expectations

    • Getting on the ice as soon as possible to get the nets out; basically once the doors are closed we should be getting them to the crease. One coach should start or talk to members.
    • Ask the Director what the on-ice theme of each week will be if they have not told you (each week we will have a focus, it will be on the board in the locker room).
      • Will have a database with drills that PT can access
    • Have your drills set up before the goalies get on the ice. Don’t waste time. Get out there early.
      • Know when you’re going to use the ipad and video feedback
    • FEEDBACK… (PT) staff need to leave 1 feedback on the attendance for each goalie that attends.
      • Could be simple as the player played well in games (but add detail, like why was he successful in games, used a new concept that we have been working on or even I talked to little Joey about tracking the puck into his equipment on all shots, right now he is just throw a piece of equipment at the puck and not following his rebounds, will keep track of progress.
      •  Let’s make sure we keep it professional, so no emojis.
    • Games
      • Make sure we make them highly competitive and the kids are working on something from the sessions.
      •  Teaching moments during Games
        •  For example: During cross ice games there are a lot of quick odd man situations and goalies get caught not ready. Talk to them about being ready and engage in a moment’s notice.
      • During games is when we can give FEEDBACK on the ipad
      • Got to be upbeat and bring energy, this is a fun job and if used right you can make a difference in a young players game and help yourself fine-tune your skills as well.
      • After the session is over
        • Pucks need to be picked up (Make the kids help)
        • Nets put up and
        • 1 coach should go to the jerseys to make sure we get them all back and they are hung up right.
