PT/FULL STAFF ONBOARDING
- Full Time Staff
- PT Staff Need
- Make sure each PT employee knows what they need to bring for each session (Gear).
- Each PT needs a login and needs to be added to the feedback drop down menu
-
-
- Learn how to take attendance and add feedback
-
- MAP and FHIT Gear needs to be bought or given to the employees
- T-shirts
- Shorts
- Hockey socks
- Jerseys
- Make sure they have google Sheets so they can get the schedule
- Be taught how to you the ADP app to log their hours
- Overall expectations
-
- Must be wearing MAP/FHIT Gear while on the clock.
- Must be on time for anything you are scheduled from
- Being on time means being there and prepared for the sessions (15-30 minutes) if you are just starting you day
- During ice cuts be sure to look at the time we need to be out there
- For example as the Zamboni is coming off you should be on the ice getting the nets ready
- Keep us updated on when you will be done working (heading back to school/playing) or days off you have planned.
- Telling us the day before is not acceptable
- Communicate that to Rachel at the beginning of your employment
- Be mindful of how you act on SOCIAL MEDIA. If you are 21 and want to have fun and post stories of you partying that is fine. But don’t accept Members to be your friend on Instagram/Snapchat. Keep your account blocked.
- On-ice Expectations
-
- Getting on the ice as soon as possible to get the nets out; basically once the doors are closed we should be getting them to the crease. One coach should start or talk to members. 1 coach should head to the ipad to take attendance for the session.
- Ask the Director if he needs anything, set up for skating or drills (each week we will have a focus, it will be on the board in the locker room)
- Will have a database with drills that PT can access
- When kids are doing skating we need to be set up in different areas, we are meant to help and give the kids feedback, as well as joke around with them.
- One coach at the beginning of the line, another moving around or stationed at another location or a coach positioned at the end to talk and give feedback
- Make sure you pay attention to what drills we are doing so that if need be you can run it the next session.
- A lot of our sessions will be similar
- We can be more efficient if we know what’s coming up and can already move tires there
- FEEDBACK… (PT) staff need to leave 1 feedback on the attendance for each session.
-
-
- Make sure we spread the love on the feedback (Can’t be the same people)
- Be sure to look on the attendance sheet to see how many feedbacks a kid has. If a kid already has 7 and another kid has 1, let’s pick that kid.
- Could be simple as the player played well in games (but add detail, like why was he successful in games, used a new concept that we have been working on; shooting in-stride or puck control to fend off players and make a play) or even I talked to little Joey about getting a wider base on Power Turns, right now his feet are too close together and is falling a lot, will keep track of progress.
- Let’s make sure we keep it professional, so no emojis.
- Make sure we spread the love on the feedback (Can’t be the same people)
- Games
- Make sure we make them highly competitive and the kids are working hard. (If that aren’t doing it, we can do something else)
- Teaching moments during Games
- For example: The pass up top game is a great way to teach kids how to move and get open and available. Lots of kids will stop moving and try to stay on the perimeter.
- Even if you are dumping the puck you can still teach.
- Pull the kid over and talk to him while you dump pucks in
- During games is when we can give FEEDBACK on the ipad (1 or 2 guys dumping and 1 on the ipad).
- Got to be upbeat and bring energy, this is a fun job and if used right you can make a difference in a young players game and help yourself fine-tune your skills as well.
- After the session is over
- Pucks need to be picked up (Make the kids help)
- Nets put up and
- 1 coach should go to the jerseys to make sure we get them all back and they are hung up right.
-
- Off-ice Expectations (Skills)
-
- Each week we will have some kind of theme or type of shooting that we will work on. Could be in-stride shooting, snap shot, back handed shot. As for stick handling, let’s try to be creative as possible to keep the kids excited about the stick handling portion.
- (Also can use videos of drills that we have in our database)
- Interact, teach, and have fun with the kids in the shooting area.
- Ball hockey is for special occasions. *Game Day or special day
- We need to make sure we are taking attendance and kids are getting points, it is 2 for stick handling and 2 for shooting.
- We can also leave feedback on the iPad the same way we do on the ice, If you see something, go ahead and leave it.
