How to run/set up Bantam Preview

How to run/set up Bantam Preview

FIrst things to do:

  • End of March/Beginning of April; Ice and Availability Lock it in first  (Buy Rachel and JJ);
  • Schedule is set for mid to late July. If you do it in August we run into the issues with the BEL. Must be careful of baseball state tournaments as well.
  • Invites start mid April.
    • If we do it early enough we get people locked in before they have other commitments.
    • Waiting until the last month is not fun as it adds more pressure and doing it in the summer isn’t ideal with how busy it is.
    • Invite to players (I personally send them to the players’ families so they feel like it’s invite only), I won’t MASS email.

  • We try to get the top players first and then filter down our list of players.
    • So figure who are the top players and ask them first.
    • I usually put a date they need to respond by.
    •  If they don’t respond by that date we can move on to the next group.

  • Connect with Goalie Guys to have them find the best possible goalies for the games.

  • Refs (Dan) and Someone to run the Clock for all games

  • We look to fill 8 teams
    •  4 for each grad year (Example 2023 & 2024).
    • Each team will have 15 (9 forwards and 6 defenseman) skaters and 2 goalies for a total of 136 players.

  • Set price for the Preview
    •  $100 for members and $125 for non-members
    • (Inviting non-members is a great way to recruit for the next training season)
    • Check different invites for Members and Non-Members Below

Things to do a Month out:

  • Once Players are in and Teams are set (Usually 2 weeks before Bantam Preview Start)
    •   An Email is sent to Players and Parents about the weekend.
    • EMAIL TO PARENTS AND PLAYERS SO THEY KNOW WHAT TEAM THEY ARE ON Below

  • Staff 1 head coach and 1 part time coach (Need people off-ice for off-ice challenges for prizes; Friday isn’t as  busy off-ice, Saturday and Sunday lots of kids and parents)

  • Need Admin there for sign ups as those members have the first opportunity to sign up for the next year.

  • Prizes Last year were 15 mini sticks signed by NHL players. Along with 15 Green biscuits and 12 MAP Hats. Next year maybe we get jerseys from China (if this Coronavirus is over with)

SET UP DAY BEFORE OR DAY OF PREVIEW

  1. Get Rosters Template from google Doc to Print Rosters for Parents/optional schedule on the back.
  2. Print out Locker room signs so kids know where to be
  3. Water Bottles ready for Coaches *Need 5-6 per bucket
  4. Pucks ready for warm-ups
  5. Confirm schedule with Rink attendant that day to make sure he has the right schedule
  6. Ipad in the Scorers Box to play music for warm-ups and stoppages

EMAIL TO PARENTS AND PLAYERS SO THEY KNOW WHAT TEAM THEY ARE ON

MAP Team,

We have finalized all of the information for the upcoming Bantam Preview Tournament on July 26th – 28th, 2019. Rosters and tournament information is below.

Your son is on the TEAM 6.

Parents: Again this year, our MAP renewal opens on August 1st, and there have been a number of parents asking to register their son’s for 2020 MAP training.   We are only allowing tournament players to have the opportunity to register early and secure your their spot before registration opens to all members.  We expect to have his level filled by the end of September so we recommend using this early opportunity to secure your son’s spot.

Abby, Miriam, and Rachel will be available throughout the tournament weekend. Simply stop up at the Herb Brooks Training Center to register early.

Players: You will be wearing your BLUE practice jersey for MAP. REPLY TO THIS EMAIL WITH THE JERSEY NUMBER so we can update our rosters.

GOALIES We will have BLUE MAP Goalie Jerseys for you!

Please make sure you are at the rink 1 hour before each game throughout the entire weekend. Please come early or stay late as the HBTC will be open for warming up and games (bags, spike ball, basketball, and some contests) for players, siblings, and parents!

All games will be held at our BLAINE Campus, Schwans Super Rink. If something comes up throughout the weekend please text or call (Gman 612-618-4626 or Dan 763-486-6110).

If you have any other questions please let me know.

Thanks,

Garrett
