MAP and FHIT EVALUATION CRITERIA PROCESS

 

MAP

1) Player needs to be on an AA or AA team during their winter season (preferably the top team, if they have AA and A it is best if they are AA)

2) Player needs to be evaluated at least 1 full game. In some instances they can be evaluated additional times to be sure they are placed in the right program. Try not to evaluate more than 3 times if possible

3) Player should stand out in all or most of the following criteria

  • Puck Skills
  • Skating Ability
  • Hockey IQ/ Hockey Sense
  • Work Ethic
  • Attitude
  • Game Details

4) Criteria not used in evaluation/decision process

  • Summer/ AAA team they played on
  • If they were last cut from the top team
  • Who their friends are on the team or other teams
  • Parents evaluation of their child

5) * IMPORTANT – Just because they are on the top team doesn’t mean they are qualified for the MAP program.

 

FHIT

1) Player can be on an AA, A, B1, B2, C team during their winter season (preferably AA – B2 but it depends on the campus and numbers. North – mainly AA – B1, West – AA – B2, East – AA – C)

2) Player needs to be evaluated at least 1 full game. In some instances they can be evaluated additional times to be sure they are placed in the right program. Try not to evaluate more than 3 times if possible

3) Player should be competent in all or some of the following criteria

  • Puck Skills
  • Skating Ability
  • Hockey IQ/ Hockey Sense
  • Work Ethic
  • Attitude
  • Game Details

4) Criteria not used in evaluation/decision process

  • Summer/ AAA team they played on
  • If they were last cut from the top team
  • Who their friends are on the team or other teams
  • Parents evaluation of their child

5) * IMPORTANT – Some players on AA or A teams that qualify for MAP prefer the FHIT program because of schedule and/or cost
