Running a good in-practice

  1. Send an email out to head coaches explaining you’ll be at the practice
    1. In email, explain that you’ll need at least 15 minutes in a certain area of the ice to work with goalie
    2. If you get longer than 15 min to work with goalies, have a backup plan in store
      1. Always have an extended plan that your working on
        1. Longer drill/skating time
        2. Structured Theme
  2. Arrive to the rink at least 20min before practice starts
    1. This will give you enough time to chat with coaches
  3. When you get to the practice, let the coaches know you are there and chat with them about things they see we could work on and where they want you
    1. Make sure you have a helmet and MEGA attire
  4. Have a structure to the 15(+) min you get
    1. Ex. 5-7 min of skating depending on goalies needs, 10 min of drills, Use iPad
  5. Have a theme for what your working on
    1. Progress the skating into the drill
  6. After the 15(+) min the goalies will go back to their teams for drills
    1. Communicate with goalies during drills
    2. Use iPad to help show things you see during drills
  7. After practice, talk with the goalie(s) on what they did well and things to improve on
    1. Also, chat with coaches thanking them for having us out and things you worked on to help educate them
    2. If parents are there, chat with them
  8. Once off the ice, give the goalies feedback in their accounts so the parents have an idea of what you worked on and what they need to work on
    1. This will also give you a better idea of what to work on for the next in-practice too
