What do the on-ice Assistants do?

 

  1. Before the ice session talk with the director about the plan
  2. Help bring out all of the tools needed for the day
    1. Jerseys, pucks, passers, ipad, tv, sticks, dangle tools
  3. Be early on the ice 
    1. Assistant 1 gets nets and attendance on the ipad
    2. Assistant 2 get the proper tools out for the session
      1. Pucks, passers, pads, tires, dangle tools
  4. Once the director get the session going 
  5. Skating drills
    1. Be a part of the drill
      1. Encourage the kids
      2. Watch for things you can teach kids, talk to at least one kid per drill
      3. Move tires and other tools around so the next drill can begin quickly
  6. Skill Drills
    1. Help set up drills
      1. Move tires and other tools around so the next drill can begin quickly
      2. If you are a part of the drill make good passes and be attentive
      3. Help teach kids to do the correct things during the drill
  7. Game time
    1. Help director pick the game
    2. Assistant 1, help get nets set up, pucks moved, and tires into position for the game.  Put anything not being used anymore back onto the bench.
    3. Assistant 2 gets the clock set and then helps Assistant 1 
    4. Take turns doing feedback
    5. Finish attendance with win points
  8. End of the hour
    1. Help pick up pucks and on-ice tools
    2. Watch the jersey rack to make sure jerseys are put away properly (last session put rack back in locker room/storage)
    3. Help set nets on the boards
